Supervisor Romaine Hosts Holtsville Housing Lottery
Program offers grant money for first-time home buyers through lottery system.
Brookhaven Town Supervisor Ed Romaine was joined by other local leaders and the Long Island Housing Partnership and Timber Ridge Homes for a lotto drawing to select eligible recipients of a new condominium home in Holtsville.
The Affordable/Workforce Housing Program offered 13 slots to eligible candidates and now those 13 winners have the option to purchase a new condo in the Wildwood Estates.
The drawing was held last week at Town Hall in Farmingville. Romaine personally picked the winners out of a rolling tin.
The two-bedroom one-bathroom homes are being offered at an affordable price to first time home-buyers who meet the income requirements. Wildwood Estates is located off of the South Service Road of the LIE.
According to a release from the town, qualifications for the lottery are based on income, and the new homeowners will receive either $50,000 or $65,000 in grants towards the purchase price. The subsidized affordable price to the applicant, based on their income, will either be $200,000 or $185,000.
