Supervisor Croci Gets Military Promotion

Navy Reserve and Islip Town Super is sworn in just before being mobilized to active duty.

Islip Town Supervisor and Lieutenant Commander in the US Naval Reserves Tom Croci was promoted to the rank of Commander in a ceremony at the Long Island Maritime Museum in West Sayville this week.

U.S. Naval Commander Michael O'Hara swore Croci into his new position just as Croci prepares to be rotated into active duty next week.

Croci, who joined the Navy Reserves in 2007, was sworn in before Dan Murphy, brother of U.S. Navy Seal Lt. Michael Murphy. Murphy was killed in action in 2005 and was the recipient of the U.S. Congressional Medal of Honor. A park in Lake Ronkonkoma is named after him.
