Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Suffolk County

Storm could bring quarter size hail and 60 mph winds.

The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for southeast Suffolk County as of 9:30 p.m. Thursday evening.

According to the National Weather Service, the Doppler Radar indicated the storm is capable of producing quarter size hail and damaging winds in excess of 60 mph. 

The storm's center is located near Ronkonkoma and moving east at 15 mph.

They offer precautionary measures to take if you are in the storm's path, including moving to a shelter or strong building but away from windows.

What a crazy storm! My dad works at King Kullen in the Gateway Plaza and said the plants outside the supermarket blew all the way across the plaza to the Bob's store because of the wind.
