Sachem Residents Hold Kindergarten Rally

Hundreds of kindergarten parents and concerned residents turned out at a rally to save full-day kindergarten from the Sachem budget's chopping block on Tuesday.

Carrying signs and speaking from a PA system, children and adults lined the highway just behind the old Sachem administrative building in Holbrook to show their solidarity and implore leaders to find the money necessary to fund full-day kindergarten.

Word of the rally was spread through Facebook and other social media sites as the district readies for its second attempt to pass a 2013-14 budget when voters turn out on June 18.

Patch will have more on the rally including photos and video to come.
