Sachem Library Budget Vote Passes

Community supports budget is approved with vote of 329-126.

The Sachem Public Library’s budget was approved by the community with a vote of 329 to 126 Tuesday.

Trustee Robert Winowitch, running for reelection unopposed, was elected to another five-year term with 343 votes.

“On behalf of the Library Board and the Staff, I thank the community for their continued support,” said Library Director Judith Willner. “Our outstanding staff will continue to develop collections and seek new ways to reach and enrich every district resident.”

Slightly more voters turned out this year compared to last with 355 voting, compared to 348 a year ago.

Overall, the library's total operating budget will increase to $9.61 million this year from $9.09 million in 2010-11.
