Sachem East Softball Falls To Hauppauge

Second loss bounces Arrows from the Suffolk Class AA playoffs.

The Sachem East Varsity Softball team ended its playoff run with a 4-0 loss to Hauppauge High School on Thursday on the road.

After a huge 4-1 victory over Commack last week, the Arrows got blanked in consecutive games, losing first to Longwood 6-0 in the semifinals and then dropping the Hauppauge game in the loser's bracket.

Hauppauge's Kaitlyn Snyder hit a two-run homer in the 3rd inning and Pitcher Lauren Buturla went the full seven innings for the win. Hauppauge (No. 4) will move on to play Bay Shore in the losers bracket final tomorrow afternoon.

Marissa Smith was tagged with the loss for East, which finished 16-6 on the year. Sachem East defeated West Islip in the opening round of the Class AA playoffs before defeating Commack. They were on the road throughout the playoffs and faced the numbers 2, 3, and 4 seeded teams consecutively.
