Sachem East Grads Win Championship Together

Three graduates of the Sachem East Varsity Cheerleading program now know what it’s like to win a National College Championship, and they did it together.

Courtney Klein, Emily Levi and Gabby Lamia all graduated from Sachem East together in 2012. As teammates on the Sachem East cheerleading squad, the three girls made a pact to apply to West Virginia University together. The pact paid off, as all three girls were accepted on academic scholarships and all three immediately tried out for WVU’s cheerleading squad.

As freshmen the newly minted WVU girls took first place at the NCA & NDA Collegiate Cheer and Dance Championship held last week in Daytona Beach, Flo. The Mountaineers cheerleading club won in the All-Girl Division I Intermediate school category.

According to WVU's student newspaper, The Daily Athenaeum, this is the second national championship for WVU since the club’s founding five years ago.
