Sachem East Alum Nearing Completion of Dental Hygiene Degree

Dana Peluso, a Sachem East alum who graduated in 2006, is on the verge of receiving her Associates Degree in Dental Hygiene from Farmingdale State College in May 2012.

The primary purpose of the Dental Hygiene Care Center at SUNY Farmingdale is to educate future dental hygienists.

In order for Peluso to graduate, one of the requirements is to examine 35 patients by May 1, 2012. To-date, she has approximately 18-20 patients completed. In order to help a former Sachem alum, the community - with or without health insurance - may schedule an appointment for Comprehensive Dental Hygiene Therapy for $25 or less.

It's an advantage for those without dental coverage and also looking to help Peluso out.The program requests patients bring a recent copy of their dental x-rays. If unable, x-rays are available on-site at the Care Center for $25.

• Mondays: 5:30pm - 9:30pm
• Tuesdays: 12:30pm - 4:30pm
• Thursdays: 1:30pm - 5:30pm

*Please note appointments may take up to 3-4 hours to complete the students' learning process. (Also ensures a great cleaning)
