Sachem BOE Fails To Vote On New Spending Plan

The Sachem Board of Education will meet again on Wednesday after failing to reach a consensus on a budget that meets the 3.14% tax cap levy.

The plan presented on Tuesday night would have restored cheerleading and the arrowettes while funding 50% of other co-curricular clubs. It would have also installed a half-day only kindergarten program.

But numerous members of the board were unhappy with the provisions and sent the administration back to reconsider more options.

The board will meet again at 7:30 p.m. At the Samoset auditorium. The BOE must adopt a budget by Thursday.
