Sachem Alum is Appointed to U.S. Military Academy at West Point
Achieves dream of attending military academy for career in the Army.
Sachem North alum Samantha Picco received notice Thursday of her appointment to The United States Military Academy at West Point.
This year she attended Valley Forge Military College on a West Point Alumni Scholarship. She again received a nomination from Rep. Tim Bishop and she also received one from Sen. Kristen Gillibrand. To add to those two she also received one from the ROTC program at her college.
Picco was an All-Sachem Patch First Team selection for volleyball as a senior in 2010.

"I know that every path I take is going to involve the military," she told Patch in 2010. "I want to purse a career in the Army. I have the utmost respect for the soldiers who risk their lives for our country and want to help protect the freedoms of our generation and the ones after."
