Reminder: Lake Ronkonkoma To Celebrate Armed Forces Day

The Lake Ronkonkoma Heritage Association is hosting this year's celebration of Armed Forces Day with an ornament presentation and historic landmark dedication tomorrow at 2 p.m.

The organization will be designating the WWII Memorial Tree located at the corner of Hawkins Avenue and Portion Road as the fourth historic landmark in Lake Ronkonkoma.

Earlier this spring volunteers from a Ling Island Boy Scouts Troop dedicated a pair if picnic tables to be placed under the tree and helped clean up the site in preparation for Saturday's event.

In addition to the tree landmark proclamation, local resident who created personalized tree ornaments in honor of a beloved veteran will decorate the tree.

The event will take place at the tree from 2-4 p.m.
