Relay For Life Meets Next Week
Community approaches large June 8 event with nearly 500 participants.
The Sachem Relay for Life organizers will be holding a meeting on May 23 at Sachem High School East, the site of this year's upcoming Relay.
This year the Relay for Life will take place on June 8-9, as hundreds of volunteers pour onto the school grounds to show their support for cancer survivors, honor the memories of those who lost their battle with cancer and promote research in cancer treatment.
According to the Sachem Relay for Life website so far 77 teams and nearly 500 participants have combined to raise more than $50,000 leading up to the event.
The top fundraising teams currently are "These Boobs R Made For Walking," "Sachem North Freshman 2" and "Pinkman's Warriors." The three teams have combined to raise more than $14,000.
At the May 23 meeting at East, youth teams must submit their Youth Participation forms and Chaperone Agreements, notarized in order to participate.
