Police Investigating Lake Ronkonkoma Crash
Single motorcycle crash on Lake Shore Road leaves operator in serious condition.
Suffolk County Fourth Squad detectives are investigating a serious motorcycle crash that occurred on Lake Shore Road on Monday night.
According to police the motorcycle operator, Melchiore Smith, of Ronkonkoma, was riding a Honda Magna at around 10:30 p.m. when he lost control and crashed on the side of Lake Shore Road.
Smith was rushed to Stony Brook University Medical Center and is listed in serious condition. The motorcycle was impounded for a safety check. The accident left the section of Lake Shore Drive between Phoenix House and Windows On The Lake closed for a number of hours.
