A Sayville School District elementary school custodian has been arrested for allegedly possessing child pornography, police said. Shawn Mead, 44, a custodian at , was found to be in possession of numerous pornographic digital images that included videos and photos of young children engaged in sexual activity, police said.

New York Islanders goalie Rick DiPietro and his wife Cassie dropped by West Islip's Veterinary Medical Center of Long Island on Thursday to visit Joey, the pitbull puppy that was found  from a car inside of a bag near the Pilgrim State Medical Center two weeks ago with a broken neck and signs of other abuse.

The Town of Smithtown was robbed of more than $200,000 by a trio operating a recycling scheme in town for more than two years, officials said, and that amount is likely to increase. One of those men, Michael Dalessandro, 43, of East Patchogue, pleaded not guilty Thursday to a grand larceny charge.
