The Sachem Central School District PTA Council has announced a date for its annual "Meet the Candidates" night, an evening meet and greet with all the Sachem Board of Education candidates running on the May 21 ballot.
This year's meet and greet is scheduled for Wednesday, April 24 at 7:30 p.m. in the auditorium at Samoset Middle School.
According to a release from the district, this program "gives the community an opportunity to hear the school board candidates present their vision, ideas and plan for the future for students and Sachem."
The candidates will field questions from the community at the event. Three seats are open for the coming academic term, currently occupied by Tony Falco, Sal Tripi and Mike Timo. All three incumbents are running for reelection.
The district has not yet released the names of any challengers for the seats. The deadline to file a petition to be placed on the ballot is today. Patch will have an update on the challengers, if any, as well as profile coverage of all candidates in the coming weeks leading up to the May 21 election.
