Main St Holbrook LIRR Crossing To Get Facelift

Renovations to run-down railroad crossing expected to be complete by September.

New York State Assemblyman Al Graf (R,C,I-Holbrook) was recently joined by members of the Holbrook Chamber of Commerce, representatives of the LIRR and Islip's Department of Public Works to brainstorm renovations and upgrades to the railroad crossing that runs through Main Street in Holbrook.

In a statement from Graf's office, the assemblyman described the crossing in "disrepair" and stated the need for renovations to improve pedestrian safety as well. Graf projected that renovation and upgrades to the crossing should be in place by September.

“It is our mission to ensure that the Main Street LIRR crossing no longer looks like an eyesore in the middle of our town or poses any dangers to people who use the crossing,” Graf stated in the release. “Main Street is a local economic engine and source of pride, and I look forward to the work ahead that will make the strip as appealing and inviting as we know it can be.”
