Update: The LIRR is reporting that service is restored on the Ronkonkoma branch as of 9:25 a.m.
If you're not at the train station yet this morning, you may need to rearrange your commuting plans.
Service is suspended on the Ronkonkoma Branch in both directions because of an unauthorized vehicle on the tracks in Wyandanch, according to a Long Island Rail Road service alert.
Here's the full alert updated at 8:05 a.m.:
Service remains suspended in both directions between Ronkonkoma and Hicksville due to track damaged caused by a motor vehicle accident in Wyandanch. LIRR personnel are on the scene and expect repairs to be completed by 9:15 AM. Suffolk County Emergency Services Unit have arrived on the scene and are in the process of removing the vehicle. Customers are advised to seek alternate transportation in the interim.
The LIRR will provide two extra passenger westbound trains from Farmingdale, departing at approximately 7:30, 8:00, 8:30 and 9:00 AM to accommodate customers affected by the Ronkonkoma service suspension.
The 6:08AM train from Ronkonkoma due Penn at 7:27AM is making a reverse move to Ronkonkoma. Customers are advised to seek alternate transportation, including the Port Jefferson/Huntington and Babylon branches.
The 6:21AM train from Speonk due Penn at 8:23AM, will make added stops at Bethpage and Hicksville to accommodate customers affected by the Ronkonkoma Branch suspension.
The following westbound trains are cancelled:
- The 6:56AM train from Ronkonkoma due Atlantic Terminal at 8:17AM
- The 7:04AM train from Ronkonkoma due Penn at 8:19AM
- The 7:19AM train from Ronkonkoma due Penn at 8:28AM
- The 7:32AM train from Ronkonkoma due Penn at 8:47AM
- The 7:40AM train from Ronkonkoma due Atlantic Terminal at 9:01AM
- The 7:57AM train from Ronkonkoma due Penn at 9:17AM
