Leg. Lindsay Honored By League of Women Voters

Suffolk Legislature's Presiding Officer receives Liberty Award.

The Suffolk County League of Women Voters recently honored Suffolk County Legislature Presiding Officer William J. Lindsay as their 2013 Liberty Award recipient.

According to a release from the Presiding Officer's office, this is the first time in the League's history that an elected official has received the award.

“I want to thank the League of Women Voters for this special honor,” Lindsay stated in the release. “The members of this organization have participated in many of our legislative meetings, and they work tirelessly to register new voters. I greatly value their continued efforts toward engaging active participants in our democratic process.”

The Liberty Award, established in 2001, is given to an individual or organization that has proven to demonstrate passion and leadership in their community.
