Community Corner

Jan. 26: Mark Twain, Hoops, PTA Council

Here's what's happening Wednesday in the Sachem community.

Check this list everyday for a glimpse at what's happening around the Sachem community ... from school events to sports games and Town of Brookhaven and Islip functions, there is a sampling of everything.

1. Mark Twain at the Library: Isaac Gewirtz, curator of the current Mark twain exhibit at the Morgan Library, will discuss the life and work of this iconic American author. Mr. Gewirtz will focus on a central, recurring theme throughout Twain's body of work: his uneasy, often critical, attitude towards a rapidly modernizing America. The event will take place at the Sachem Public Library from 7-8:30 p.m.

2.  Strengthen your creative skills in The Art Encounter at Sachem Public Library weekly on Wednesdays from 11:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Do you have a desire to fulfill your passion for art? Artist Jack Dean leads this weekly gathering of art enthusiasts.
