Hurricane Irene Destroys Farmingville Home

Falls on room of single-story house on Oaklawn Avenue.

A tree landed on the roof of a Farmingville home as Hurricane Irene barreled through Long Island Sunday Morning.

The homeowner, who was not available for comment, had left the night before, according to a neighbor. There were no injuries.

The single-story white house on Oaklawn Avenue was covered by the tree that came out of the ground (see photos) and swayed to the right, crashing into the home and nearly collapsing the entire roof.

Multiple trees were split in the Sachem community due to Hurricane Irene.

The neighbor said family members came to look at the home earlier in the morning to assess the damage.
