Events At Islip Town Hall

Islip Town Hall announced an upcoming reception to accompany its art show sponsored by Islip Arts Community's "Art in the Hall," initiative.

On Friday, May 1, the IAC is hosting the reception from 5-6 p.m. May 1 is the one year anniversary of "Art in the Hall" and runs simultaneously with an exhibit of the work of Ned Butterfield and Miranda Gatewood.

A resident of Islip, Butterfield creates award-winning watercolors of Long Island land and seascapes, such as beaches, lighthouses, canals and shipyards. Gatewood, a photographer, is exhibiting a collection of color waterscapes, landscapes and rustic images of coastal Long Island, the Hudson Valley region of  NY and the White Mountains of New Hampshire and Maine, according to a release from the town.

"Art in the Hall" is an ongoing program that provides local artists and art students from nearby high school with an opportunity to showcase their work to the community with free gallery viewings. The artwork is exhibited on the second floor rotunda and hallway at Town Hall and can be viewed Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The current exhibition is open until May 31.
