Diamond Jackson wins State Discus Championship

Career at Sachem East ends with four state titles.

The following article was written by Pete McNeil.

Diamond Jackson, Brittany Sepe, and Amanda Zaput from Sachem East traveled up to the New York State Track and Field Championships in Middletown this past weekend to mix it up with the best public, private, Catholic, and New York City athletes in the state.

Amanda Zaput Pole Vaulted just short of her own school record to place 12th in the Pole Vault with a clearance of 10 feet. Likewise, Brittany Sepe could not quite match her own school record and placed 12th in the Shot Put with a heave of 36'2".

Diamond Jackson, however, managed to find just a little more as she did surpass her previous best to both set a new school record, and defend her New York State Discus title with a toss of 135'7".

Add in her role in the Field Hockey State Titles and Jackson graduates as a four-time New York State Champion. Jackson, along with Sepe and Zaput are seniors and will be continuing their Track careers at The State University at Cortland, Molloy College, and Ithaca College, respectively.

Seniors Val Auciello, Sarah  LaPorta, and Indoor National Champion Holly Lindoe, will be ending their seasons at The Outdoor National Championships held in North Carolina this coming weekend.
