Crime Report: Phone Scam Attempt, Harassing Phone Calls

A look at recent crime in Farmingville.

The following information was culled from the Suffolk County Police Department's automated reporting and arrest system.

Farmingville

  • Police were informed of a phone scam attempt on June 9 at around 9 a.m. on Overlook Drive. According to police a person on the phone with the complainant stated the complainants brother was in trouble and they had to pay cash. The complainant called his brother who was not in trouble, authorities say.
  • Police responded to a criminal mischief call on June 8 on Independence Way at around 7 p.m. According to police a complainant parked in the Brookhaven Town Hall parking lot reported that the registration sticker of a 1997 Nissan Maxima had been tampered with.
  • Police answered a call for aggravated harassment on South Howell Avenue on June 4 at around 9 p.m. According to police the complainant reported receiving threatening phone calls from at least two males.
  • Carol Anne Madonia, of Farmingville, was arrested in Selden on June 6 for 3rd-degree grand larceny and 7th-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.
