Cops Seeking Bagel Shop Burglar

Man broke into bagel shop, rode off with cash from a back office.

Suffolk County Police are asking for the public to help identify and locate the person who broke into a Nesconset bagel shop shortly after midnight on Memorial Day.

According to police, on May 27, an unknown male smashed the side glass door of the Bagel Cafe on Smithtown Boulevard just west of Lake Ronkonkoma Park, and entered the store.

Once inside, the man pried open an office door and stole a large amount of cash. The suspect then exited the store through the rear door and fled on a blue or purple mountain bike.

The suspect, captured here by surveillance camera, was wearing a black coat, black gloves and black backpack. There was a wooden handle protruding from the backpack. 

Police are asking anyone with information about this crime to contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.  All calls will be kept confidential.
