Banding Together Against Bullying

Fundraising event will benefit Long Island Crisis Center.

On Saturday, March 31, Act1Entertainment.Net is coordinating five Long Island venues with 25 bands that will participate in “Banding Together Against Bullying” a fundraising event benefiting Long Island Crisis Center.

This fundraising event for Long Island Crisis Center, a not-for-profit agency, will help in providing community education and hotline services for those who find themselves victims of bullying and cyber bullying. Hosting this simultaneous, multi-venue, unique event will be: The Blue Parrot Lounge (Massapequa); Whoville (Bethpage) Candy’s Magic Pub (Shirley); Knockouts Restaurant & Bar (Bohemia); and Roast Coffee & Tea Trading Company (Patchogue).

“Banding Together Against Bullying" is a volunteer effort by Act 1 Entertainment’s Brothers & Sisters; a touring group that performs at area venues for ones less fortunate then themselves. There will be live music and raffle prizes; speakers will share the signs and signals for parents of children who may not be revealing that bullying is going on in their daily lives.

“Unfortunately, many times the problem of bullying, especially cyber bullying, is not known until a child takes drastic measures,” said Linda Leonard, Executive Director of Long Island Crisis Center, in a statement. “The Crisis Center is available 24 hours-a-day, seven days a week and provides free, confidential and anonymous hotlines, online chat and texting for them to reach out for help.”
