Al Graf Learns To Download eBooks to iPad

Assemblyman sits down at library to toy with new technology.

Assemblyman Al Graf was recently shown by a reference library at the Sachem Public Library how to download ebooks to his iPad.

“This will become very useful as I travel back and forth to Albany each week,” said Graf in a statement.

Reference Librarian Denise Heid assisted Graf in setting up his new e-book account. Heid also pointed out some of the neat features, such as highlighting and side-notation, that Assemblyman Graf can use with these downloads.

“I think it’s terrific that this free service is available to my constituents,” said Graf.  “There are so many new services that are available at the library that we all should be taking advantage of.”

Heid also suggested checking out books on CD for car radios, or perhaps Playaways, which are small MP3 players preloaded with an entire book. Graf indicated that he will be returning soon to work with the Library’s online databases to research his genealogy. He encourages all residents to open the doors of their libraries and step into the world of technology and information.

“Our libraries are there for us,” he said. “The librarians are eager to help and they are a great resource in teaching us how to utilize information to improve our daily lives.”
