The Student Perspective: Holding the Fort and Preparing For War

After defeating the Connetquot, Sachem moves forward with a matchup against William Floyd on the road next Saturday to try and continue it's undefeated season.

With sophomore quarterback Trent Crossan out for the season, Sachem (5-0) went into its fifth game on the road against the Connetquot Thunderbirds (1-3) with newly anointed starting quarterback, Sophomore Mike O'Donnell, running the offense.

Despite an early fumble, O'Donnell managed to keep Sachem's dynamic offense under control for the entire game. The team was certainly spreading the wealth, as Dalton Crossan ended up with three touchdowns alongside scores by Malik Pierre and Anthony Ross to lead Sachem to a 32-19 victory.

But, compared to this matchup, next week's battle with William Floyd will undoubtedly be one of Sachem's toughest games of the year. The team will be on the road once again, in search of revenge.

Unfortunately, Floyd ended Sachem's run for a county title for the second consecutive year at Stony Brook University last November.

Stacey Bedell is in a battle for the Hansen Award against Sachem's Dalton Crossan, who is averaging about 10 yards a rush this season. Floyd, who fell to Longwood earlier this year, beat Northport, 42-7, this week behind a stellar performance by Bedell, who rushed for 335 yards and five touchdowns. Sachem's game with the Colonials is scheduled for 1:30 next Saturday, Oct. 15, in William Floyd, with Sachem looking to continue it's undefeated season.
