Join Bricks 4 Kidz® Eastern Long Island for its Grand Opening on April 5th from 10am to 3pm at 990 Station Rd, Bellport.

Bricks 4 Kidz® makes learning fun by teaching children ages 5-13 Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) concepts using motorized LEGO® models.  Our after school program is designed for children from grades 1 through 5, who meet one hour a week after school for six weeks.  Each six-week session follows a theme, and each theme contains six models - one for each weekly class.  The one hour class includes a 10-15 minute Power Point lesson, followed by the students working in pairs to build the motorized model.  After they complete the model, they are encouraged to experiment with and modify their creation.  For example: make it run faster by using a larger gear.  Afterwards they receive approximately 10 minutes of free play with LEGO® bricks, and each child is given a ‘Take Home’ handout that explains what they learned.

The after school themes range from “Laws of Motion”, and “Energy is Everywhere”, to “Transportation Timeline”.   We are also introducing LEGO® WEDO and LEGO® Mindstorm classes in the near future.  WEDO is a junior robotics software that allows students to program the models they build in class.  Mindstorm is an advanced robotics class, where students build and program motorized robots that are able to solve complex problems. 

In addition to the after school program, we offer week long Spring Break and Summer Camps, exciting and creative LEGO® birthday parties, and Friday Night Kidz Night Out.

Bricks 4 Kidz® Eastern Long Island is owned by AnnMarie Szollosi, Karen June and Alex Gilbert.  AnnMarie is a high school teacher of 14 years who teaches Geometry, Algebra 2 and Trigonometry.  Karen is a high school teacher of 13 years who specializes in Athletic Training and Health Education.  Alex is a Marine Officer of 18 years (retiring this summer) and a US Naval Academy graduate with a BS degree in Computer Science.  All of our teachers are New York State certified teachers.
