Local grocery store always has events to keep occupied.

Summer is almost over, but Whole Foods said they are still grilling and offering summer concerts at their location in Lake Grove.

Saturday, August 6 — Diabetic Friendly Meals Cooking Class — 1 p.m.: This class, of interest to all, will feature some delicious dishes made to order for those concerned with managing blood sugar—or their waistlines.

Saturday, August 13 — Oil Free Dressings — 1 p.m.: Oil-free doesn’t mean taste-free! Learn to make delicious dressings using your home blender.

Monday, August 15 — Essential Oils Class — 6:00 p.m.: Learn the benefits of essential oils and how to make these helpful hydrating solutions a part of your daily routine. Join Zambak in their Whole Body department as she integrates essential oils into moisturizing body lotions.

Tuesday, August 16 — The Tuesday Tour: Outlandish Produce — Noon: They will be featuring some rare and interesting finds from our Produce department. Learn how to prepare that interesting, but unfamiliar fruit or vegetable. 

Wednesday, August 17 — Farmers Market — 11 a.m. - 4 p.m.: Join them for an indoor market in their Café and meet your local farmers and artisans. Explore the unique and local items from the comfort of their café. 

Thursday, August 18 — Kids Corner: Bee Creative with Honey — 5 p.m.: Join them for this exciting class featuring creative and healthy ways to incorporate honey into a meal. Learn the many benefits bees have to our environment and even explore an observation beehive, presented by BeePharm Bees.

Sunday, August 21 — Sunday Book Club: The China Study — Noon: Relax with a healthy snack and chat with Tim about “The China Study” by T. Colin Campbell, Ph.D. Let our Healthy Eating Specialist show you the steps in becoming a healthier you.

Wednesday, August 24 — Green Smoothies Class — 5 p.m.: Learn how to get the most out of a five-minute meal. Sometimes you only have time for a snack, but Tim will show you how to pack all the nutrition of a meal into a delicious smoothie.

Thursday, August 25 — Digestive Wellness Lecture with Christie Korth — 6 p.m.: Have Crohn’s or Colitis, or even IBS? If so, you are not alone. Most people instinctively know that food is part of the cause, however do you figure out which foods and how these foods can exacerbate these illnesses? Join Christie Korth, author, Crohn’s survivor and holistic nutritionist in a class that will change the way you think about digestion and unlock new answers on how to end the suffering.  

Friday, August 26 — Acoustic Café: Grand Folk Rail Road — 7-9 p.m.: Join them for live music in the café, as we showcase the local Long Island group, Grand Folk Rail Road. Relax with a refreshing Iced Coffee, cool gelato or a bakery dessert and enjoy the acoustic sounds of live music. 

Saturday, August 27 — Healthy Dorm Essentials — 1 p.m.: Join Tim as he helps local students stock their dorms with healthy snacks and meals. Don’t forget to tour the Whole Body Department for natural hygiene essentials. Healthy meals help healthy minds. 

Tuesday, August 30 — The Tuesday Tour: Simple Health Snacks — 5 p.m.: Start the school year off right with simple healthy snacks, perfect for kids and adults alike.
