Suffolk Police Treat Kids to Holiday Shopping Spree

Dozens of underprivileged children will receive $50 gift cards to Target as part of "Shop With A Cop" program.

Suffolk County Police are teaming up with Target stores to provide an all-expense-paid shopping trip to local kids in need, just in time for the holidays.

Dozens of children, ages 8 through 15, throughout Suffolk County will receive a $50 Target gift card to buy gifts for themselves or a relative through the "Shop With A Cop Program."

Police officers and members of the Suffolk County Police Explorers will accompany the young shoppers during the event.

“Our officers are proud to interact with members of the community, especially with children,” Suffolk County Police Commissioner Edward Webber said in a statement. “This program provides a wonderful opportunity to brighten an underprivileged child’s day during the holiday season.”

The shopping trips will take place on Thursday, Dec. 6 at 6 p.m. at the Medford Target on Horseblock Road, as well as Thursday, Dec. 13 at 5 p.m. at the Target store in Bay Shore, located on Sunrise Highway
