Local businesses kick off fall with some promising news. Here's a look at what's happened lately.

CVD Equipment Corp. to Present at Three NYC Conferences: CVD Equipment Corporation of Ronkonkoma has announced that it has been invited to present at three conferences in New York City during the week of September 12. These conferences will be primarily held for current and future investors, and according to CVD President and CEO Leonard Rosenbaum the company will be providing information on their “Sustainable Growth with Low Risk” business strategy. CVD is a designer and manufacturer of customized equipment and process solutions used to develop advanced electronic components, materials and coatings for research and industrial applications.

The Rodman & Renshaw Annual Global Investment Conference will be the first conference, and CVD will present from 4:05 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Monday, September 12. CVD will present again from 2:15 p.m. to 2:40 p.m. on Tuesday, September 13 at the ThinkEquity’s 8th Annual Growth Conference (G8), and conclude by presenting at the Ardour Capital 9th Annual Energy Technology Conference on Thursday, September 15 from 10:45-11:15 a.m.

VAI S2K Enterprise Software Selected by College Woodwork: Vormittag Associates, Inc. recently announced that its S2K Enterprise software was selected for use by College Woodwork, according to Supply & Demand Chain Executive. College Woodwork is a Canadian solid wood furniture manufacturer and distributor that began searching for a new ERP software tool in order to boost sales and become more efficient. The company’s decision was largely based on its need for a customizable solution to fit its unique business model.

VAI’s recently-reworked S2K Enterprise software provides customers with improved sales analysis tools, immediate access to all sales data and the ability to simplify all business processes, features that College Woodwork was looking for in an ERP software provider. VAI is a software developer and IBM Premier Business Partner headquartered in Ronkonkoma.

Lakeland Industries to Report Results, Hold Conference Call: On Thursday, September 8, Lakeland Industries of Ronkonkoma will be announcing its financial results for the sixth months ended July 31, 2011. According to Marketwire, the results will be released at stock market close, and Lakeland President and CEO Christopher J. Ryan will be co-hosting a conference call at 4:30 PM on the same day.
