Businesses in the Sachem community test the waters with new advertising techniques and space technology development. Here’s a look at what’s happened lately:

NASA Selects ATK Missile Products for Project Development: ATK Missile Products of Ronkonkoma has been chosen by NASA’s Game Changing Development program as one of eight companies to carry out preliminary concept studies on one of its projects, according to PR Newswire.

The NASA program recently announced that the project, dubbed the “Ride the Light” concept, is one of two space technology projects that have been selected for development. NASA has granted approximately $3 million to several companies—including ATK Missile Products—to conduct systems engineering and analysis concept studies.

The Ride the Light project is intended to provide aerospace vehicles and other applications with external power on demand through the usage of beamed power and propulsion, power that is typically generated by sources such as lasers and microwave energy. Following this first round of studies, NASA will determine whether the project is fit for implementation in 2013.

ATK Missile Products is a division of ATK, and is a leader in the development and production of rocket motors for land, sea, and air-based systems.

Box Top Advertising, Inc. Creates Box Topper for Pennica’s Pizza : Pennica’s Pizza of Ronkonkoma has partnered with Box Top Advertising, Inc. to provide local businesses with a cheap and effective means of advertising in the Sachem community. Box Top Advertising will be printing 10,000 box toppers to be attached to every pizza box, pick-up and delivery over a five-month period.

The toppers will be printed in full color and will have Pennica’s menu printed on the reverse side. There are approximately 14-18 advertisement spaces available on the toppers, with the option of choosing single, double, or quad sizes. Single ad spaces begin at $125.00 for all 10,000 prints, and Box Top Advertising guarantees that each participant will be the only company in their industry on the toppers.

Those interested in reserving a space on the toppers can contact Box Top Advertising at 631-972-8497. Pennica’s Pizza delivers around 500 pizzas weekly to residents and businesses in Ronkonkoma, Holbrook, Farmingville, Centereach, Holtsville and Lake Ronkonkoma among others.

Dynamic Laboratories, Inc. Offers QR Codes on Microfiber Cleaning Cloths: The rapid development of the smartphone industry has paved the way for advancements in marketing, and Dynamic Laboratories, Inc. of Ronkonkoma has taken full advantage of the possibilities of mobile marketing. Dynamic Labs, a manufacturer and wholesale distributor in the optometric industry, has announced that it has begun producing microfiber cleaning cloths embedded with quick response (QR) codes.

QR codes are two-dimensional barcodes which, when scanned, allow consumers access to a vast amount of both static and interactive content, including phone numbers, promotions, social media platforms, websites and other pertinent information.
