Other divisional winners will receive a $100 prize, and all participants will receive a ICAW/USCC Certificate of Participation. Contest divisions are grades 3-7, grades 7-12, and college-adult. NBTY Makes “Operation: Hope” Possible: Long Island’s largest hunger relief organization Island Harvest unveiled “Operation: Hope” this week, a mobile food pantry aimed at providing food for veterans and their families struggling with hunger and economic difficulties, according to NewsLI. The initiative has been made possible through the generosity of several organizations, including Ronkonkoma’s own nutritional supplement provider NBTY.

NBTY’s nonprofit organization NBTY Helping Hands Charity has provided much of the funding to begin the project, along with the U.S. Veterans Motorcycle Club-Long Island Chapter, the Suffolk County Veterans Service Agency, 9-1-1 Veterans and other veterans’ organizations such as local VFW and American Legion Posts. “Operation: Hope” volunteers deliver non-perishable food items such as canned goods, cereal, rice and shelf-stable juices, and personal items like deodorants, shampoo, soap and toothpaste.
