TFCU Receives Desjardins Youth Financial Education Award: The New York Credit Union Foundation granted Teachers Federal Credit Union (TFCU) the first place Desjardins Youth Financial Education Award. The annual education award is named after Alphonse Desjardins, founder of the North American credit union movement and promoter of the idea of youth savings clubs and in-school banks. The Farmingville-based TFCU was rewarded for its promotion of youth financial literacy in New York State schools. Among other efforts, TFCU sponsors free National Endowment for Financial Education (NEFE) training to professionals who intend to contribute to financial education.

"Financial literacy education is a top priority for TFCU. Our programs in local schools augment the New York State curriculum and serve to educate youth in the practical aspects of handling money. Our programs are an important service, especially now when the economy is in the spotlight. We are honored to be the recipient of this prestigious award once again this year,” said Robert G. Allen, President and CEO of TFCU, in a statement
