Sachem Patch Business Notebook, August 9

A look at the business scene from around the Sachem community.

As we head into the last month of summer, the growth of local businesses continues to stay strong. Here’s a look at what’s happened lately:

TFCU Hosts School Supply Donation Drive: The Teachers Federal Credit Union’s (TFCU) community involvement group, Team TFCU, will be collecting donated school supplies at each of its branches throughout the month of August. Team TFCU is hosting the drive to help provide children of limited-income families with the necessary supplies before the start of the school year, and will present the donated materials to Long Island Cares for distribution. Suggested items include backpacks, notebooks, folders, binders, dictionaries, pocket calculators, pencils and pens, but Team TFCU asks that no donations be made in the form of cash or gift cards.

TFCU branch locations include their Farmingville headquarters as well as locations in Holbrook, Nesconset, Selden, Smithtown, South Setauket and SUNY Stony Brook among several others. For a full list of locations, visit their website.
