Ronkonkoma Chamber Hosts Special Guest at General Meeting

The Ronkonkoma Chamber of Commerce's general meeting is being held at 5:30 p.m. tonight and it will feature guest speaker Michael Frenda of Dale Carnegie Training. Frenda will share some of his insights and tips on how business owners and employees can get over their stage fright and learn how to properly network, give presentations, and stay away from the corner of the room.

This is a great opportunity for any wallflowers that might be shy about how to get the most out of a business networking event. The meeting starts at 5:30 at Bruno's Bar & Grill on Hawkins Avenue. There will be a buffet-style dinner, with soda, beer and wine. Price of admission is $15 for chamber members; $20 for visitors. Click on the link to RSVP.

Dance Studio Offers 'Kids Night Out'

Dave & Cristin's Dance Dynamics on Portion Road in Farmingville is holding a "Kids Night Out" event on Saturday; a chance to get kids out of the house for a few hours and to socialize with other kids in a safe environment.

The cost for this event is $25 for the first child, and parents will be able to drop children off and then take the evening off. "As parents ourself we realize we all need a night off," the company's website states.

Owners Cristin and Ronnie Libuser will host the evening for the kids. 

Get Your Spanish Food Fix with New Deals at Island Empenada

Island Empenada on Portion Road in Ronkonkoma is featuring new coupons on its website to coax locals out of the hambuger-french fry doldrums and into some spicy Spanish fare.

Never had an empenada before? Not sure if you'll like it? One coupon offers a free empenada, so you can sample it without paying a dime. Another coupon takes $5 off the bill on Mondays and Tuesdays. The other coupons offer reduced prices or value meals from which to take advantage.
