Residents React To Farmingville Stop & Shop Gas Station Coming

Coming gas station at corner of Horseblock and N. Ocean Avenue gets mixed reviews from readers.

Yesterday, Sachem Patch reported that a Stop & Shop gas station - the first on Long Island - will be opening at the corner of Horseblock Road and North Ocean Avenue in Farmingville in the near future.

When news of the coming business broke the community let us know exactly how they felt about it in the comments section of the story and on social media.

Officially, the Farmingville Hills Chamber of Commerce has thrown its support behind the project.

"This is going to be a welcomed addition to Farmingville," The Chamber commented on the story. "There are going to be a lot of firsts happening in Farmingville!"

Others in favor of the new gas station took to our Facebook page.
"Nice. good luck," commented JoAnn Rusinovich-DeLucaMarni Anne Brinster DeMeyer stated: "Looking good!"
But the gas station arrival is not without its detractors as well, many of whom would like to see something other than a gas station at the intersection.
Julie Caputo Onufrey stated: "Hate Stop and Shop. Just what we need another gas station. Wish it would have been a Panera. But I guess it's better than another laundromat."
While Antonietta Alaimo-Harlow was hoping for something a little "faster."
"There's 3 gas stations already within a few blocks! Wish they would have put something else there instead. My kids had their fingers crossed for a Sonic."
Nicole Arthus-Prego shared the same sentiment. "Or a Dairy Queen !!!!!
We don't need another gas station!!!"
So how about it, Sachem? A Stop & Shop gas station in Farmingville. Long-awaited or aggravated? Tell us in the comments below.
