Report: Holtsville Manufacturing Plant to Close

Metavac's 25 employees will be out of a job by the end of the year, according to report.

Metavac, a Holtsville plant that is part of Thermo Fisher Scientific, will close later this year, according to a report in Newsday.

All 25 employees at the plant on Point Street will be laid off, the report says.

Metavac, which according to its website has been operating since 1945, manufactures and develops thin film, optical and electro-optical products.

Thermo Fisher Scientific says the plant will close by the end of September in a "cost-saving move" for the Massachusetts-based company, Newsday reported.
