Local Stations Running Out of Gas; Kings Park Stations Stay Fueled

No gas shortages as of noon in Kings Park.

Smithtown area gas stations started running out of gas on Friday, and locals bracing for the impact of winter storm Nemo took precautions in advance of potential power losses from the storm.

As of 11 a.m., the Hess Station on Route 347 and Mount Pleasant Road in Smithtown was drained of gas. The same was true at the nearby Gulf station at Route 347 and Southern Boulevard.

In St. James, the Gulf station on Lake Avenue only had premium fuel left, while nearby orange cones blocked the empty pumps at Smitty's fuel station.

However, as of noon Friday, at least three stations in Kings Park were reporting they had fuel and no lines; Eddie's Service Station,  San Remo Gulf and Valero all had gas.

Do you know of other stations that have run out? Add the info in the comments section.

To Waldo Why did you send the kids to school in the first place. You don,t need a school district to tell you. The weather forcast should have been a clue. Trust your gut feeling next time.Better to err on the side of caution Good luck to al digging out.

Bill, you raise a good point. I actually stayed home, from my NYC commute. BUT, you would think the school district would have used common sense and had an early dismissal. We pay thousands of dollars in school taxes, to fund "higher" education and administrative salaries with BLOATED PENSIONS. So, I would expect the senior leadership of the school district to ensure a safe environment for our children. Do you agree?
