Job Postings in Sachem, September 18

A glimpse at local positions available.

After nearly a month of minimal postings, the amount of local jobs posted across the internet took a nice jump this week. Both job boards and Craigslist had a good amount of positions to offer. Here's a sample of what is out there:

Delivery Drivers: UPS in Farmingville is hiring part-time air drivers. This is a physically demanding job that requires loading and unloading packages. Work week is Tuesday through Friday, and then driving on Saturday mornings. Good driving record, proper driver’s license, and customer service skills needed.

Physician Assistant: Busy private practice in Ronkonkoma is looking for a physician assistant. This is an immediate fill position. Experience needed, bilingual abilities preferred. Compensation bonuses offered.

Customer Care Associate: The hours are unique, but anyone looking for a position in the retail field can find it at AC Moore in Holbrook. The arts and craft store is looking for a customer care associate to fill the 4 a.m. to 1 p.m. shift. Primary responsibilities include customer care, working on the cash register and dealing with the freight functions of the store.

Waitstaff: Windows on the Lake is hiring. This wedding  cornerstone at 235 Lake Shore Road is looking for waitstaff. Experience preferred but not required. Interview opportunities on Wednesdays and Thursdays at 2 p.m.

Nanny: Holbrook family seeks nanny for two-year-old and four-month old. Would be working at Holbrook home. Pay between $5 and $10 per hour.

Architectural Drafter: Architectural office in Holbrook in need of a drafter. This is a highly specialized position calling for someone familiar with AutoCAD drafting. Commercial experience a huge plus.

Bank Teller: The Holbrook location of Teachers Federal Credit Union has an opening for part-time tellers. This is an entry level position that primarily deals with processing deposits, withdrawals, loan payments and other daily transactions. High school diploma, or equivalent,  needed.

Barber: Hairsmith in Farmingville is looking for a “responsible, reliable barber with clientele experience.” Both part-time and full-time position available.

Assistant Manager: Retail and previous managerial experience would be ideal for this full-time position at Sears Hardware in Lake Ronkonkoma. In addition to assisting the store manager with all store-operating functions, the successful candidate will also oversee human resource activities. This is a salaried position.

Receptionist: Aventura Construction Corporation is looking for a receptionist to take care of daily clerical duties. Pay starts at $10 per hour. Responsibilities include filing, answering phones, faxing and general office work.

Positions at SCCC: There are several positions open at Suffolk County Community College that will soon be closed to applicants. Have a look at the positions being advertised and see if any attract your eye. Positions that are open locally at the Selden campus include adjunct positions for day and evening classes, one for the EMT/Paramedic program, as well as an opening for a track and field coach.

Whole Foods Market: The folks at Whole Foods Market would like the Sachem community to know that on every Wednesday morning at 10 a.m. the company’s Lake Grove location will be hosting a job hiring screening.
