Delaney Promoted to SVP at YES Network

Has connection with Sachem community and strong role with television network.

Emmy Award-winner Ed Delaney, whose connection to the Sachem community is within his children who attended Sachem East, has been promoted to senior vice president, broadcast operations and engineering at the YES Network where he is responsible for all aspects of the technical operations for YES.

According to YES, Delaney joined the network in October 2001 as director of operations, leading the company’s technical team in the planning and executing of the network’s launch just five months later.  He was promoted to vice president, operations, in 2003.  He and his YES technical team won six New York Emmy Awards. 

“Ed has been remarkable in identifying opportunities for YES to re-affirm its pioneering position in sports television production, operations and technology,” said John J. Filippelli, president of production and programming for the YES Network, in a statement “He has been with YES since Day One and, as we approach our 10th anniversary in March, we owe much of our outstanding on-air look to Ed.”

Delaney, who graduated from Millersville University (Pa.), was the driving force when YES launched its 24/7 standalone HD feed in 2007, and the overhaul of the network’s studio and broadcast operations to the point where all YES-produced programming has been presented in high-definition for almost five years now, the company said in a release

Delaney was CEO of his wholly owned company, DCC, where he packaged production of many major sports events including Yankees baseball, Pirates baseball and professional boxing.

He also served as vice president of operations for The Baseball Network, a partnership between ABC Sports, NBC Sports and Major League Baseball.  Delaney came to the Baseball Network from ABC Sports where, where he worked for 10 years, most recently as senior production executive, overseeing the production management of all ABC Sports telecasts, YES said in a release about the promotion.

Ed's son , a Sachem East alum, recently finished his college football career at Albany and has been in the spotlight for overcoming adversity battling diabetes and playing with one hand.
