Fall Brings Changes to Sound Beach's Is-A-Love Cafe

Harvest lunches, new hours and some new entertainment are on tap for local cafe favorite, Is-A-Love Cafe. Fall flavors pack the menu with tasty selections like pumpkin spiced lattes, broccoli cheddar soup and caramel apple pancakes with apples from local farms.

Owner Adrianne Johansson or Chef A as many call her, knows a few things about food. An executive chef for 23 years, Johansson knows her way around a kitchen.

Photos: Centereach Eyesores Razed

Rubble. All that remains is rubble. Crews on Thursday razed the former Body Talk Lounge in Centereach, a demolition celebrated by local politicians as yet another step to remove local eyesores in the local communities. The building, which used to be a strip club, had sustained significant damage from a fire earlier this year and town officials said it had become a dangerous target of graffiti.

Port Jeff Brew Now on Tap at Whole Foods Markets

Port Jeff Brewery will be part of the local line up of microbrews being offered at Whole Foods Markets. The local artisans announced on their website Wednesday that they had sealed the deal, accompanied by a picture of a Port Jeff Brewery truck in front of the Lake Grove Whole Foods

Sayville Jeweler Wants Your Vote for Children's Charity

Kay Cameron Jewelers of Sayville  has nominated Matthew’s Giving Tree Foundation for the Jewelers for Children Local Grant Program and is hoping local residents will support the effort by casting needed votes.

UPDATED: Town Planning Board Rejects West Islip 7-Eleven

The decision is in: No 7-Eleven will be built on the corner of Udall and Muncey Roads in West Islip as the Islip Town Planning board has voted down a proposal that had been loudly opposed by residents for nearly two years and which was initially proposed in 2009. The board, according to a Newsday report, voted 4-2 against the proposal last Thursday after reserving decision on the project in July, 2012  to review and assess traffic concerns cited by residents.

Patchogue

That Meetball Place Coming To Patchogue

The former Pura Vida Burrito Company and Jzanus Home Care locations in Patchogue Village are soon to become one location called "That Meetball Place." The 54 W. Main St. and 52 W. Main St locations have recently had their former signs taken down with a new "Coming soon" sign for the location.

LA Fitness May Come To Farmingville

An LA Fitness might be coming to Farmingville. According to a Board post by the Farmingville Hills Chamber of Commerce, representatives from the company attended the chamber's Tuesday night meeting proposing to build a gym between the Kmart and the Nursing Home near the North Service Road.
