Bissett's Outdoor Showcase One of a Kind

Only outdoor display like it in the nation.

Located just outside of Bissett Nursery in Holtsville is an invaluable tool for homeowners. An outdoor showcase constructed in 2006 is accessible to anyone, anytime.

"We are so confident in its success that it is left open 24 hours a day, seven days per week," said Bissett marketing director Carol Saporito.

The feature is special because Bissett Nursery is open only to contractors, meaning that the average person is not permitted inside. The outdoor showcase is the key to learning about Bissett for customers.

Typically, a homeowner looking to do renovations would hire a contractor who would then contact Bissett for supplies.

According to the Nursery, the showcase is intended to, "help you develop design ideas and make your final selections."

Clearly this is necessary, because it is difficult to envision how a product in a brochure is going to look practically.

"When the contractor says, 'I'm going to put this here and that there, the outdoor showcase is a way to sell the job,'" said Saporito.

The contractor is able to take the customer through the exhibit and show the exact colors, types and sizes of the products to be used.

The selections certainly are plentiful as Bissett boasts, "artfully displayed and well maintained" items including nursery and landscape materials, hardscapes consisting of Unilock, Nicolock, Cambridge, Techo-Bloc, Glen-Gery Brick, Various Natural Stone, Fire pits by Techo-Bloc and Cambridge, and Unique Water Features by Aquascape Designs.

Though the variety of items may initially seem daunting, every item is sectioned off by company and uniquely labeled by color and type.  Every year, Bissett evaluates new products, and works to keep the showcase dynamic.

Another great feature of the outdoor display is that evenings are illuminated by low voltage outdoor lighting by Cast Lighting, so that homeowners can truly visit any time of the day or night and not lose any of the experience due to darkness.

In 2009, Bissett added another wonderful exhibit.  A dramatic, movie-set type display is set up just adjacent to the outdoor showcase.

"Techo-Bloc, the manufacturer, invited us to take this to the next level. Within three days we were getting an area ready," said Saporito.

The fully finished area features an actual mock-home display so that the prospective buyer can see exactly how the products will look on their own property.

The goal, says the nursery, "is to emulate the many ways the products can be used in your home, by integrating the display into a home structure."

So many different designs are on display in the quaint area that it is easy to see what a great tool these outdoor areas are to Bissett.

"Customers are able to look and see their own house. People come by all of the time," says Saporito.

Even more exciting, this display is the first of its kind in the nation, making Bissett's Outdoor Showcase an entirely unique experience for homeowners.

"There are two like this in Canada, but we are thrilled to be the first in the nation," Saporito said.

With such an expansive area of design, it is easy to see why so many people have trusted Bissett Nursery with their homes and buildings.  In addition, 2010 promises to bring new and exciting features as the nursery has set aside even more space to build a full kitchen display which will be available in the customer-friendly area.

Located just across the street from Bissett Nursery on Long Island Avenue in Holtsville, the Outdoor Showcases provide everything a homeowner needs to make an informed and exciting decision about how to improve their property.
