Allegiant Starts Flying Out of MacArthur Friday

Airline will be providing nonstop service to Fort Myers/Punta Gorda, Florida.

The next airline coming to MacArthur Airport in Ronkonkoma will celebrate its inaugural flight with a ribbon cutting Friday.

The ribbon cutting takes place at the airport at 100 Arrival Avenue in Ronkonokma at 6:15 p.m., with clearance through security at 5:30 p.m.

As previously reported in August, the Las Vegas-based airline plans to operate two nonstop flights a week – Mondays and Fridays – at 6:15 p.m., on aircraft that will carry up to 166 passengers and will offer an initial fare of $99 roundtrip--or $69 one way from MacArthur to Punta Gorda Airport in Fort Myers.

Friday's ribbon cutting will also include a holiday toy drive to benefit Make A Wish, and anyone donating will have their name in a drawing for two roundtrip tickets from the airline. A flash mob will also be performed.

The airline is the second to come to MacArthur this year following PenAir launching service from Islip to Boston in July.
