Sachem North Football Unveils Championship Banner

The Sachem North Varsity Football team unfurled its 2013 Long Island Championship banner in front of packed crowd in the Sachem North gymnasium.

The banner was revealed by team captains as the rest of the team stood at mid-court holding the trophy aloft.

The ceremony took place at halftime of the Boys Varsity Basketball matchup between Sachem North and Sachem East, ensuring an all-Sachem crowd. Boosters in the high school lobby sold Sachem North T-shirts with the words "Long Island Champions" emblazoned on the back.

Sachem North defeated longtime rival Wm. Floyd 28-7 to capture the Suffolk County crown. The following week the came from behind to beat Farmingdale 27-21 for the Arrows' first-ever Long Island Championship.

As for the hoops game, at halftime Sachem East was dominating 46-19. Patch will have an update when the game becomes a final.
