The Brookhaven Amphitheater
Farmingville spot is home to summer concerts and more.
Located right on Bicycle Path, a mile and a half north of the Long Island Expressway, is the Brookhaven Amphitheater.
The Amphitheater was built in the 1980's, replacing the Ski Bowl, which was Long Islands one and only Ski area. The Ski Bowl was owned and operated by the town of Brookhaven from 1965-1980.
The Brookhaven Amphitheater now hosts summer concerts and family friendly movie nights. In the front circle by the entrance sits a monument dedicated to Terance Weldon, a U.S. Navy Operations Specialist from Coram, who had been stationed aboard the USS Stark, which was struck by two Iraqi missiles on May 17 1987, killing 37 sailors and wounding 21 others. Terance Weldon was among one of the listed fatalities.
