Sachem Alum Competing On 'Hell's Kitchen'

Class of 1994 graduate will be on hit cooking show's 11th season on FOX.

A Sachem Class of 1994 graduate is the latest Sachem alum to appear on a hit TV show featuring often-confrontational master chef Gordon Ramsey.

Barret Beyer, originally of Holbrook, will be competing on the Fox show when its 11th season premieres on March 12 at 8 p.m. EST. Beyer, who currently lives in Central Islip, is the sous chef at The Emporium on Railroad Avenue in Patchogue. Barret earned his culinary arts training at Star Career Academy in Syosset in 2010. Prior to becoming a chef he worked in the mortgage industry, but said he always watched "Hell's Kitchen" and dreamed of one day competing on the show.

On March 12 that dream becomes a reality.

"I have never had an experience like this in my entire life," Beyer said. "You don’t know what to expect. It’s as real as it gets."

Patch will have more details of our interview with Beyer before next Tuesday's premiere. Patch will also follow Beyer as he competes with weekly recaps of the show.

Beyer is the second Sachem alum within a year to compete on a cooking show that featured chef Ramsey, who has 11 Michelin Stars. Back in June, Holtsville native Frank Mirando competed on Fox's "Master Chef" and advanced all the way to the final four.
