Mirando Rolls On Into The Final 8

Holtsville chef survives a 'sea' of challenges on "Master Chef."

For tomorrow's episode of "Master Chef," Frank Mirando will be leading a team through the opening challenge after he sailed through two difficult tests on last night's episode.

Mirando had to cut open a sea urchin and scoop out the protein to use in a dish with limited ingredients. In a race against the clock Mirando plated a passable dish, but ultimately didn't win the test. That challenge went to Felix Fang, who used her victory to try and knock Mirando out of the box.

In the Elimination Challenge, Felix gave Mirando a catfish to have to prepare, assuming that Mirando had no experience with the bottom feeders. Does anyone know if there are catfish in Lake Ronkonkoma?

In either event, her instincts weren't off; Mirando panicked at the thought of cooking catfish, but he did so with perfection. Judge Gordon Ramsey singled the Holtsville stockbroker out as one of the top two dishes, and awarded him team captain in the next round.

Tomorrow we'll see if Mirando can rise to the occassion.
