Holtsville Man Competing on Fox’s ‘Master Chef’

Competition heating up as local man makes final 15.

Holtsville resident Frank Mirando was selected as one of 18 chefs to compete in the hit reality cooking contest “Master Chef.” The show, which airs on Fox on Monday nights at 9 p.m., features judges Graham Elliot, Joe Bastianich, and Gordon Ramsey of “Hell’s Kitchen” fame.

Mirando, a stock broker by trade, has thus far made the cut from 18 to 15. His fate is undetermined until tonight’s show. In an interview with Pop Tower, Mirando speaks fondly of his days in Holtsville, pulling Blue Claw crabs from the Great South Bay and bringing them home for mom to cook.

His description of Ramsey, known for his violent outbursts and explosive temper, is actually that of a “fun-loving family man” and a “remarkable
human being.”
