Voters Approve Sachem Library Budget

Voters give thumbs up to spending plan with 76% majority approval.

The Sachem Public Library 2013-14 budget was approved on Tuesday night by a vote of 378 to 118. With more than a 75% majority, residents voted up a 1.95% tax increase, which is within the state mandated tax cap.

Library Board President Carol Paulsen expressed her gratitude for the overwhelming approval in a statement.

“The Library Board and staff appreciate the community’s continued support and vote of confidence” Paulsen said.  “We pledge to continue to maintain the Library as a vital resource and cultural hub of the community.”

In addition to the budget, voters reelected incumbent trustee Marguerite Barone, who ran unopposed, to a five year term.
